Carlton Curtis was performing a solo set in Birmingham,UK summer 2002. The guys in the photograph (Gary & Dominic Williams) were also performing at the show, and met with Carlton afterwards to discuss working with him. And so, Carlton Curtis And The Roamers came to be. The band worked on old and new songs that were written by Carlton Curtis. Their sound gave the songs a completely fresh feel to them. Carlton and his new band members were taking the sound to a completely new level. The band recruited several Bass players. But as it is now known, Bass players can prove tricky to hang onto.Carlton Curtis And The Roamers had two Dave's and a Silas playing bass guiar during their time as a band. (thanks guys!) Whilst active, they played most of the popular live venues in the West & East Midlands, plus radio and summer festival slots including the Moseley Park Festival in Birmingham, UK. The band also bagged some favourable reviews from those that listened to their debut Demo E.P , a selection of songs recorded over a busy weekend at Pato Banton's studio in the West Midlands. An exciting project for Carlton Curtis And The Roamers came in the months leading up to Christmas 2004..... An originally titled "Christmas Showcase" was proposed for both the serious side of promoting themselves, and also to have an end of year party going on. The experience was rewarding, and was an insight into how gigs are run. After hiring the performance space, all the band had to play with was an empty theatre and a sound desk without a sound technician. So a technician was hired, and advertising for the show was designed and distributed. The show was what the band certainly considered a success. Over 100 people attended, and not all of those were friends and family. Not too shabby for an unsigned band managing their own event! ![]() Carlton Curtis And The Roamers last performed together in 2005. |
